Funerary Pit - The Titan Sea €12
Anybody who felt ravaged for good by being exposed to Funerary Pit's landing on the underground via their debut recording “Winds of Hell” 2006 will no doubt have eagerly awaited news on their front ever since, like drops of rain on a drought season. That EP, consisting of two tracks plus an intro (released on tape, 7” and CD format) had for too long remained their only studio effort. Its contents had also turned out to be to be a stronghold of murderous intentions and a true exhibition of muscle and character. It remains the sound of an unfathomable starvation, claiming for lives to be taken away and dark times to reign supreme. Australia has been delivering strikes of neat Metal at its more intense and chaotic for over three decades, and this trio from far down under sticks to the rules of their origin. Furthermore, Funerary Pit has never opted for the most uncontrolled edge and unsophisticated forms of expression of some of their compatriots, but instead display a more a sober and precise punch of death metal obscurantism, simultaneously draped in aggression and layers of taut moments. “The Titan Sea” is the resounding EP that puts an end to this eight-year silence, and it could just as well have emerged back then too, reconnecting as it does with the very same starting point of their debut. Although widely known for plumbing the filthiest excesses of the metal underground,IRON BONEHEAD PRODUCTIONS is no stranger to doom. And now, the label unveils a towering, black-magickal tome of ultra-doom majesty: LANDSKAP's I debut LP. Hailing from the UK, the five-piece LANDSKAP is heavily influenced by late '60s and early '70s rock and early doom bands, and features members from bands such as SerpentCult / Thee Plague Of Gentlemen, Fen, Pantheist, Dead Existence, Father Sun, and Skaldic Curse. LANDSKAP was formed in 2012 when George and Fred met in a London pub on a rainy day in November. Sharing a mutual passion for music, both soon started jamming with Paul on drums. The first six months were spent just jamming to "get the groove going." In the summer of 2013, the band decided to write a few songs out of the jams, and were joined by Kostas on organ and keyboards and Jake on vocals. Being brought up in the peak of the Colombian underground movement in the eighties is one of those grim enduring scars which both well define the character and is an unmistakable mark impossible to get rid-off. Instead of being a curse about which trying to get further away, Organismos' second full length album "Manejos Invisibles", has unveiled a neat unpolished metallic gem abruptly but coherently crafted, building bridges between the cities of Medellín and Antioquía where its members are located and come from. Blending the unbelievable violence of the South American underground sound while allowing the interference of certain and nailed experimental licences, it could shock the listener and results a juxtaposition difficult to believe or understand, but which with truly ends up assembling completely. Determined about being risky and challenging without refusing to voice rude and disconcerting, the philosophical and metaphysical lyrical work of this apocalyptic compendium, spites out a hopeless diatribe which stresses the overall decadent ambience of these 10 exalted tunes. As a final side note, is it necessary to add that the guitar player known as La Bruja, accomplishes on his resume having being part of the legendary Parabellum and Herpes? And the same thing goes for Alberto Correa (bass) and Alexis Vélez (vocals and drums) who were part of seminal outfit Ataque de Sonido. These certainly would be appetizing selling points but refering to an album which stands by itself proving it's soundness, it's a mere anecdotal fact since the quality of the music is what counts and outstands on this opus indisputably.
